Louis XV was delighted with the young Dauphine Marie Antoinette . It was a question of her graces , her vivacity and the accuracy of his repartee. She still was more successful with the royal family, when we saw her stripped of all the sparkle of diamonds which she had been adorned during the early days of her marriage. Dressed in a light gauze dress or taffeta, we compared it to the Venus de Medici, in the Atalante Marly gardens.
