Show, filmed by Gérard Di Puglia

This show relates the improbable saga of René Madec, a young ship’s boy born in 1736 in Quimper who, though various voyages and military feats, was made a Nabob in 1769 and given a title by Louis XVI at the age of 45.

Over the course of this fairy-tale spectacle, the dreams of the East and the taste for far-off lands which were in fashion in the 18th century are evoked with no fewer than 70 horses and 25 riders, accompanied by music composed during this period in India, America and Europe. As Bartabas explains, “the cultural mix is not a product of our era. It already existed.” This show proves this through scenes combining exoticism and classicism, such as the one in which six elephants walk along Allée des Marmousets.
