Special issue No. 58 l'Estampille / L'Objet d'Art

Bringing together contemporary designs in historical settings is a way of combining the need for functional furniture with the wish to promote French know-how.

In the setting of the apartments of the Dauphin and the Dauphine, this special issue of the magazine l'Estampille presents four centuries of furniture design centred on the Mobilier national. Room by room, the apartments of the Dauphin and the Dauphine become a showcase for the designs of the Atelier de Recherche et de Création of the Mobilier national, the tapestry and carpet manufactories and the Sèvres china factory.

This special issue presents the Apartments of the Dauphin and Dauphine, and presents contemporary designs of this institution whose primary mission is to furnish the Republic's official buildings. The catalogue of the exhibition, available in this website, will be dedicated to the first section of the exhition, about the historical refurnishing of Versailles.
