Notepad Le Roi est mort

3,80

1st September, 1715, the bells can be heard ringing everywhere in Versailles... King Louis XIV is dead. His death marks the end of a 72-year reign, the longest reign in France history.
Upon the tercentenary celebrations of this death, the palace of Versailles holds the exhibition Le Roi est mort (The King is dead), until 21st February, 2016. The exhibition displays Louis XIV's last days, the rituals that directly followed his death and eventually the royal funerals at the Basilica Cathedral of Saint Denis.

This notepad is a part of the exclusive collection of products derived from the exhibition. Reminding of the dominant mourning colours - indeed the kings' mourning clothes had to be purple and not black -, and ornamented with the royal emblems, the notepad evokes elegantly the royal funerals of Louis XIV as the great theatre of death, the last blow of the Sun King.
