This bag highlights the clothes and hairstyles in fashion under the Ancien Régime: taffeta or satin dresses with lace, pearls and garlands. Here, Marie-Antoinette is wearing a purple coat decorated with gold fleurs-de-lis. She has pearls, aigrettes, flowers and diamond pins in her hair.

The voluminous hairstyles were topped with “poufs” with feathers and aigrettes. Marie-Antoinette loved them. She also wore many hats created by her milliner Rose Bertin, which served as models for high-ranking women.
