Lampshade Aviary

250,00

Imitation birds with real plumage take refuge in this lampshade decorated with copper wire framework designed by Mathieu Challières. Each model is unique: the colours of the birds may vary. The lamp requires a bulb of 40 Watts maximum (supplied) and complies with the EU standard. The switch and cable are transparent.

In the 18th century, exotic birds were used as ceremonial ornaments for the distraction of the Court. Madame du Barry, mistress of Louis XV, possessed an aviary with particularly elaborate decoration. The king's favourite was very upset by the death of her magnificent canary which escaped from its cage and broke its beak against the windowpane.
