This “Queen’s breakfast bowl” was inspired by the popular saying, “Have a king’s breakfast, a prince’s lunch and a poor man’s dinner”. There is a matching “King’s breakfast bowl”.

To modernize the codes of life at Court, Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette introduced “society meals”. Some forty people who were important in terms of their condition or their merits were invited. These meals took place in the dining room of the King’s Personal Apartments, alternating between a silver tableware and magnificent Sèvres porcelain tableware.
