This oven mitt is part of the “La Table du Roy” collection based on the “Voyages du Roi au château de Choisy, avec les logements de la cour et les menus de la table de Sa Majesté – Année 1747” by Brain de Sainte-Marie.

Louis XV developed the concept of intimacy both in his Apartments and for his meals. Rather than accepting the heavy ceremonial aspect of the Grand Couvert, the King preferred to sup with his hunting companions in his Private Apartments or in his Cabinets. The ladies of the Court, including the favourites, were in the majority. French cuisine was born during these meals with delicious dishes that the monarch greatly enjoyed.
