"Marie-Antoinette" porcelain soup tureen

This white porcelain soup tureen is decorated with gilt trompe-l'oeil patterns that emphasise its volumes. The handle of the lid is represented by roses, the favourite flowers of Marie-Antoinette. There is also a leaf pattern on the top of the lid.

Limoges porcelain is manufactured according to a technique dating from the 18th century. This jar is manufactured by the Maison Raynaud, a family-run company that has perpetuated the tradition of Limoges porcelain since the 19th century.

The noble materials of this soup tureen make reference to 18th century refinement, appreciated by Marie-Antoinette who had a taste for beautiful things.
