48,00

This medal represents the profile of Louis XIV at the age of 22, based on the work “Medals of the main events of the entire reign of Louis the Great” by Sieur Anisson, director of the Royal Printing Office (1702). We can read the inscription LUDOVICUS MAGNUS REX CHRISTIANISSIMUS (Louis the Great, Most Christian King).

On 9 June 1660, Louis XIV’s marriage with Maria Theresa of Austria took place at the Church of Saint Jean-Baptiste in Saint Jean-de-Luz. In 1661, Cardinal Mazarin died. At the age of 21, Louis XIV was now to reign on his own.
