This notebook is part of the range of products designed in connection with the National Equestrian Academy of the Estate of Versailles.

The cover depicts an equerry of the Equestrian Academy during a training session.This is an adaptation of the first poster, created by Jean-Louis Sauvat, for the opening of the Versailles Academy of Equestrian Arts in 2003. 
Horse riding is often associated with the life of monarchs, and the equestrian statue of Louis XIV, which stands proudly in the Place d’Armes, is a landmark for tourists and Versailles residents and is a sort of guardian of the Estate. This impressive work, commissioned by Louis-Philippe and crafted by the sculptors Pierre Cartellier and Louis-Messidor Petitot, was initially placed nearer to the Palace in the Royal Courtyard. It is approximately 5.5m tall and 4.5m long. In 2009, after two years of restoration, the statue was placed in its current location where it marks the gateway between Versailles and the rest of the world.
