Cards to send or to collect

This double card with its decorative openwork is delivered with a double white inner sheet and a white self-sealing envelope. Four versions are available: handkerchief (yellow), cuff (blue card), collar (pink card), fan (green card). Each product in this collection evokes a traditional motif inspired by the prestigious lace of Alençon.

Marthe de la Perrière invented 'Alençon lace' in 1665, influenced by Colbert who installed a royal manufactory in Alençon to produce needle point lace to compete against 'Venetian lace'. The success of this 'Alençon lace', based on a complex technique that produced a delicate finished product, was immediate. In the 18th century, the lace industry was run by nearly 80 manufacturers who employed up to 10,000 women workers.
