This medal represents the profile of Louis XIV at the age of 46, based on the work “Medals of the main events of the entire reign of Louis the Great” by Sieur Anisson, director of the Royal Printing Office (1702). We can read the inscription LUDOVICUS MAGNUS REX CHRISTIANISSIMUS (Louis the Great, Most Christian King).

In 1684, Louis XIV was at the height of his glory. France imposed its supremacy throughout Europe and the world.
