The Royal Opera was inaugurated in 1770 during the celebrations for the marriage of the Dauphin, the future Louis XVI, to Archduchess Marie-Antoinette of Austria. The vast stage, the acoustic quality, the perfection of the proportions and the refinement of the décor make this one of the most beautiful court theatres in the world.
Today, this magnificent theatre with nearly seven hundred seats stages nearly eighty performances a year: operas, concerts, ballets, etc.
