Relive the spirit of the Court in a game

The rules of this game are based on bluffing and bidding. Each player plays the role of an ambitious aristocrat who arrives from his/her distant province in the Court of Versailles to obtain a favour from king Louis XIV. But in this Court seething with rivalry and intrigues you have to win the King's favour by entertaining him: by making him discover a new writer, dance, fruit, etc. All these efforts to gain his favour are very expensive. So these young courtiers must manage their meagre fortune without ruining themselves trying to become a favourite. Warning: the king's mood may change quickly!

At the Court of France the kings lived surrounded by courtiers. The writer Louis de Rouvroy, Duc de Saint-Simon, wrote in his Memoirs the daily events of life at the Court of Versailles in the reign of Louis XIV. To win the favours of the king, the courtiers had to observe the Etiquette and be totally available to the important people of the Court.
