'The art of fluttering a fan'

This superb poplar wood puzzle is based on an 18th-century fan showing a view of the Château de Versailles. A craftsman finely cut the 150 pieces, none of which measures more than 2cm, by hand.

The cloud- and wave-shaped pieces follow the painting's curves, colours and motifs. After finishing the puzzle, you can frame it to create a highly decorative art object. The cardboard box is recyclable and the wood comes from European forests under sustainable management.

The fan illustrates the view of the Château de Versailles from the main courtyard's gates. Carriages, sedan-chairs, carts and pedestrians freely move about in this bustling scene. Louis XIV laid down just one condition for visitors entering the palace: they had to respect etiquette by wearing a hat and sword.
