The Menagerie - Cabinet of Curiosities

'The King of Animals' Maïssa Toulet's humorous, anachronistic cabinets of curiosities capture the imagination. Designed as miniature museums, these tableaus in relief comprise small items that the artist found at flea markets and put together in settings that are very different from their original purpose. This window belongs to a set of six cabinets of curiosities that Ms. Toulet created based on the Science and Curiosities at the Court of Versailles exhibition's themes. You can hang this unique work with a clip on the back of the window. This window illustrates Versailles' Menagerie, built in 1664 and revisited by French artist Maïssa Toulet. It is filled with odd-looking creatures from faraway lands. Louis XV's crowned rhinoceros proudly parades, while giraffes watch the imaginary flight of a baboon with insect wings. At the Science and Curiosities show you can see Louis XV's stuffed rhinoceros, an exceptional 3D recreation of the menagerie and 18th-century animal prints. Artist : Maïssa Toulet Material : Plexiglass window Made in : France Dimensions : 35 x 27 x 12 cm
