The Queen's Chamber Spiral Notebook

9,90

This spiral notebook is part of the complete line of products designed for the Palace of Versailles. The chamber is the main room in the Queen’s Apartments, where she spent most of her time. She slept there, often joined by the King. In the morning she received visitors during and after her Toilette, which was a Court event that was as tightly regulated as the “Lever du Roi” (Rising of the King). This is also where the Queen gave birth in public: nineteen “Enfants de France” (Children of France) were born here. The décor maintains the memory of the three Queens who occupied the room: the ceiling compartments date from Queen Marie-Thérèse, but the grisaille paintings by Boucher were produced for Marie Leszczinska, as was the wood panelling. All these components have been preserved since the days of Marie-Antoinette, for whom only the furniture and fireplace were delivered new.
