It is to General de Gaulle and André Malraux, the Minister of Cultural Affairs, that we owe the rebirth of the Grand Trianon in 1960. Fully restored and refurnished to accommodate foreign Heads of the State, the residence, which became " presidential " was inaugurated June 10, 1966.

Fifty years after the inauguration, and while a new restoration campaign ends , the book highlights this crucial period in history of the small castle of Louis XIV.

Archival documents, pictures and crockery part of the Élysée table services allow to understand the reasons for such a choice, the extent of existing and the use of the space by the Republic presidence.
