Fashion at the Court
In fashion, in fashion...
Versailles was always at the forefront of progress in a variety of areas - fine arts, architecture, sculpture, gastronomy and ceremony, etc. Inspiring artists and designers, the palace was both a revelation and a showcase for talents in all fields. Fashion, of course, had to be a part of this movement. The monarchs themselves were often the initiators of major changes in clothing styles. With their innovative choices, they launched a trend that was reflected mostly in French fashions of the time, but also across all of Europe.
