The gardens of Versailles and Trianon are a veritable open-air sculpture museum with many kinds of works: fountains, sculpted groups, vases, etc.

The greatest sculptors of the 17^th and 18^th centuries took part in decorating the walkways, groves and basins, including Puget, Girardon, Coysevox and Bouchardon. Some of the sculpted groups are among the masterpieces of French art, such as the magnificent Latona fountain, Enceladus, Apollo served by the Nymphs, etc.
