This set includes a quill pen and a 10ml bottle of black ink and evokes the sun, the emblem of King Louis XIV.
The latter chose it as his personal emblem on the occasion of the Carousel of 1662. Like the god Apollo, the Sun King brought peace and was protector of the arts and, like the star, regulated life and the order of all things.
The decor in the Palace was overflowing with portrayals of the star and the god; this set was inspired by the ornamentation on the door leading to the Hall of Plenty in the King's Apartments. The set is part of the “Emblems” collection available from the online shop.
